Each and every website must be kept up to date with fresh content, however if your website needs to be updated on a regular basis such as daily or weekly then a content management system (CMS) is for you.
With a content management system you can update your website whenever you like, with what ever you like. However in the design of your website we create ‘Templates' for you, this means that you do not have to worry when updating your site because we have already said what you can and can't edit, so NO ‘oh my goodness I think I have killed my web site'. When researching into CMS's for our company our main concerns for our clients were flexibility and usability, for this reason we spent a long time researching into the best way to deliver this to our clients. From these investigations we have found that the web editing application Macromedia Contribute is the easiest way for individuals and teams to update, create, and publish web content to any HTML web site. Contribute allows non-technical users to update web content while maintaining site standards for style, layout, and code. Contribute is very much like using Microsoft Word, and therefore we felt the most comfortable environment for our clients to work in. Here are some points we should make about Contribute: Contribute removes the need to have multiple programs to carry a simple task such as changing a spelling mistake, e.g. text editor, FTP , etc. Several users can update a given website simultaneously. Contribute will check whether the page a user is trying to amend is already being edited by others in order to prevent page version conflicts. There is also a page rollback feature which allows easy recovery from possible problems. Administrators can ensure the style, code, and integrity of a website is maintained while allowing users to update the site's content. Administrators can assign different editing permissions to users; for instance, some users might only be able to edit the text on a page, while others would have more options.
